Last but not least, “The Bodyguard” is still *technically* a free agent at the moment. While many expected the legendary blindside blocker to hang up the cleats this offseason, the 17 year veteran hasn’t made any sort of formal announcement regarding his retirement. In fact, Jason Peters said back in March that he does plan on playing in 2021, despite his rapidly regressing performance over the last 12 months or so.

Peters actually had himself a fairly above average 2019 campaign, but was noticeably not the same type of player the following year. Initially signed back to the Philadelphia Eagles to play right guard in wake of Brandon Brooks’ injury, Peters quickly established himself as the starting left tackle following Andre Dillard’s own respective injury.

Peters had the worst year of his career in 2020, making his departure a largely irrelevant one, especially with Jordan Mailata developing and Dillard set to return.

Unless a team suffers some sort of major injury to their starting left tackle during training camp, I honestly doubt Peters sneaks his way into a starting role for the 2021 campaign. It also seems unlikely that he’d accept a backup job, or an interior offensive line role, which essentially keeps him in free agency limbo.
