DeVonta Smith

I mean, why not? Regardless of if you view DeVonta Smith as worthy of the top ten pick that the Philadelphia Eagles used on him, he’s a player who is going to get a ton of targets during his rookie season. Howie Roseman traded up for the Alabama prospect with the sole intention of building his offense around him moving forward, and new head coach Nick Sirianni has spent a whole lot of time oozing over the team’s newest WR1 this offseason.

If Smith were to finish the year with 1,000+ yards, give or take, one can only assume that would net him a place in next year’s top 100 list. The hype around the recent Heisman winner is already pretty insane – all he has to do is show up and perform and the national media will aggressively latch onto him.

There’s a lot of things that could go wrong during Smith’s rookie season (bodyweight, QB play, offensive line, rookie head coach, etc.), things that could ultimately restrain his overall statistical production. However, if Smith is able to live up to all of the expectations, and explode onto the scene as a true #1 wide receiver, then he could definitely enter next offseason as a top 100 type player.
