Following some much deserved time off this past week (and some close watching of the NBA’s newfound play-in tournament), the Sixers are all but ready to begin what they’re hoping turns out to be a very successful 2021 postseason run.

Owners of the top seed in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers will host Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook, and the 8 seed Washington Wizards starting Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM ET.

Numbers to know about the Sixers’ first-round matchup with WAS.

Some key numbers to keep in mind prior to Game 1:

3-0

The most important number worth highlighting in a story like this, the Sixers have played the Wizards three times this season – and won all three times.

More from Section 215

The first matchup took place on Opening Night, a game that the Sixers won 113-107. The second game was a rather high-scoring affair on January 6th, which the Sixers won 141-136. And most recently, Philly secured a comfortable 127-101 victory over Washington in early March.

There’s been plenty of discussion in regards to who the “best” first round matchup would have been for the Sixers, and there’s some genuine reason to believe Washington might not be that due to their high-scoring guard duo. Ultimately speaking though, this is still a team that Philly has played well against all season long.

If Philly were to hypothetically recreate their 3-0 record against Washington this upcoming week, I think we’d all be in agreement that a trip to the second round would soon follow. Even just jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead at home would put Philadelphia in a rather good position moving forward.
