While the Philadelphia Phillies‘ offense took center stage during last night’s dominant win over the rival Atlanta Braves, Zach Eflin quietly put in yet another impressive outing on the mound.

The 28 year old right-hander is now 2-1 across seven starts this season, possessing a 3.38 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. For what the Phillies need out of the #3 spot in their starting rotation, Eflin has been that and then some.

While Eflin’s emergence this season into being one of the better starters in the National League has definitely been a fun story to follow, it’s his production against the Braves in particular that I wanted to highlight following last night’s victory. Over the course of 12 starts against Atlanta, Eflin is now 6-3 with a 3.41 ERA.

Considering just how tight the NL East is expected to finish this season, that seems like quite the promising stat line for Philadelphia.

Not only do the Phillies need Eflin to continue along his current pace, but they need him to continue knocking off division rivals when tasked with doing so. The 12 runs of support obviously made his job just a tad easier last night, but holding the NL East reigning Braves to just two runs across 6.2 innings of work is still no small feat.

Even with Atlanta struggling to get out of the gate this season, the combination of Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman, and Marcell Ozuna at the top of the order is not an easy trio to maneuver around. Eflin did a great job with them last night, and if historical data tells us anything, we should expect that level of production to continue should (when) Eflin and the Braves meet again this season.

Zach Eflin has fared well against Atlanta during his Philadelphia Phillies career.

The Phillies have gotten some rather impressive production out of their top three starters this season, and the hope from Joe Girardi and the front office alike is that it should continue throughout the rest of the summer. Help should arrive around the trade deadline in regards to the #4/#5 spots, and Spencer Howard is currently being ramped up as a starter down in Lehigh as well.

In the meantime, enjoy the fact that Zach Eflin somewhat *owns* the Atlanta Braves.
