Currently set to make three sixth-round picks in this year’s draft, the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be looking to fill as many holes as possible with their plethora of Day 3 selections.

Here are some prospects that Howie Roseman and company could target:

Shaka Toney, EDGE

The Eagles swung and missed with their Shareef Miller pick back in 2019, but they could be turning back towards Penn State’s defensive line when it comes to boosting up their EDGE depth this offseason.

More from Section 215

While Micah Parsons and Jayson Oweh have dominated the conversation when it comes to PSU defenders, Shaka Toney is a sneaky late-round prospect who could help sure up the Eagles D-Line.

With Vinny Curry departing this offseason and Derek Barnett having one foot out the door, adding to the EDGE position is an underrated need for Philly this year.

Toney – a 6-3, 238lbs edge rusher who projects to be a “pass-rush specialist” at the pro level – would give the Eagles a different type of athlete to incorporate into their defensive line. They tried to bring in hybrid DE/OLB type players with the additions of Genard Avery and Casey Toohill the last two seasons – neither ended up making an impact.

The Philadelphia Eagles could fill some major depth holes on Day 3.

Toney played alongside Oweh in 2020 and Yetur Gross-Matos in 2019, and has all the makings of a DE4/DE5 who could see the field on obvious passing downs. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him end up on the injured reserve with a “phantom injury” during his rookie season, or on a team’s practice squad, which isn’t too concerning for a player of his build. Toney likely needs to add some extra weight to his frame to be a successful pass-rusher at the NFL level.

An appropriate investment to make on Day 3.
