Even with Greg Ward Jr. signing his exclusive rights contract, the Philadelphia Eagles still have a massive hole at the wide receiver position – especially when you consider just how inexperienced the group is.

Ward, who was on the practice squad less than two years ago, is currently the team’s most-tenured wideout. He’s caught 81 total career passes and played in just 23 total NFL games.

Not ideal!

The Philadelphia Eagles could use a proper veteran WR.

More from Section 215

While funds are obviously super tight for Howie Roseman at the moment, the general consensus is that the team needs to bring in some semblance of a veteran WR this offseason. While it definitely seems like the Eagles are trending towards a bit of a tank-job in 2021, leaving Jalen Hurts completely out to dry with zero veteran pass-catchers feels like a bit of a malpractice.

With that in mind, there are a handful of veteran wideouts out there who’d be worth extending a one-year, incentive-laden contract to:

Antonio Brown

2020 Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No, I don’t think there’s any chance the Eagles try and sign Antonio Brown, but he’s still worth highlighting as he’s genuinely the best free agent WR out there.

Impressive resume in Pittsburgh aside for the moment, Brown was legitimately solid this past season in Tampa. He finished the regular season with 45 catches for 483 yards, and played a crucial role during the team’s Super Bowl run as one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets.

Talented as he may be, Brown is about the last guy you’d want to bring in to “mentor” the Eagles young wide receivers. Simply cannot see it happening, nor do I think Brown would want to play for a rebuilding Philly squad. He’s ring-chasing at this point in his career.
