Scrap all your previous Philadelphia Eagles mock drafts, the whole approach to this year’s process has been completely flipped upside down following a busy afternoon of trading on Friday.

The Eagles took their sixth overall pick and moved down six spots via the Miami Dolphins, picking up a future first-rounder in the process.

Not only does such a trade alter the prospects we focus on in the first-round, but it paints the picture of a team fully embracing a much-needed rebuild. The Eagles are now expected to use the 2021 NFL Draft as an opportunity to load up on future young talent, as opposed to addressing immediate roster holes.

New picks = new Philadelphia Eagles mock draft!

With that said, let’s get into my first 7-round mock draft post trade-down:

The Philadelphia Eagles select…

Scouting Report. 12. player. 54. Pick Analysis. CB. South Carolina. Jaycee Horn

More from Section 215

A name that’s become pretty popular amongst Eagles fans over the last 48 hours, Jaycee Horn would be a fantastic player to land in the first round of the draft. Not only does Philly desperately need cornerback help alongside Darius Slay in the immediate future, but Horn has the type of potential to develop into the team’s solidified CB1 later down the road.

The son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee has all the traits necessary to exceed at the professional level.

He’s big (6-1, 205lbs), he’s fast, he plays on the boundary, he thrives in man coverage, and he’s strong enough to press stereotypical “X” receivers at the line of scrimmage.

Outside of being an elite prospect, drafting Horn also shows a sense of commitment to the rebuild by the Eagles. As much as fans want an exciting offensive player this year, building up the defense first could have a better long-term impact.
