Despite his fantastic 2017 season, Nelson Agholor‘s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t really work out when it was all said and done. He struggled before and after the team’s lone Super Bowl winning season, ultimately resulting in a disastrous 2019 campaign which forced him to take a league minimum contract the following offseason with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Luckily for Agholor (and not so luckily for the Eagles), he had a fairly above average debut season in Vegas. The former first round pick racked up a career-high 896 yards on 82 targets, matching his 2017 touchdown total with seven. While the Raiders ultimately missed out on the postseason, it was a strong year for Nelly as he attempted to rebuild a market for himself.

With Agholor currently an unrestricted free agent, a rather surprising video dropped Sunday afternoon from the likes of Greg Ward Jr.

Agholor was spotted working out with Jalen Hurts – the one quarterback currently rostered to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now for what it’s worth, all sorts of players workout together during the offseason, The odds of this one video signaling a Philadelphia return for Nelson is rather slim. There’s a good chance that he just happened to be in the area, and that his former teammate in Ward Jr. shot him a text to come run some routes.

With that said, the Eagles are likely set to be in the market for some WR depth this offseason, and Nelly’s strong 2020 could be enticing Howie Roseman and Co. After all, Agholor’s biggest issues appeared to be with Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz, as opposed to the front office.

Personally speaking, a “Nelson Agholor homecoming” doesn’t really do it for me. He never seemed all that happy playing in Philadelphia, and I think the Eagles could find some higher-upside receivers elsewhere. Fans of the team tend to agree with me, as the results of a poll that we ran a few weeks back were overwhelmingly against the idea of bringing back the Super Bowl hero.

With that said, the Eagles are also still in negative cap space – they don’t really have the luxury of being picky at the moment. If Agholor wants to return to catch passes for Hurts, coming off a near-1,000 yard season, Roseman would probably jump all over that opportunity.

Something to keep an eye on as free agency rumors start to heat up!
