There were no major impact wide receivers, cornerbacks, or linebackers on the board when my second round pick rolled around, so I went with the best player available instead – which is fine. The Philadelphia Eagles have a super old and uninspiring roster, they simply need talent, as opposed to specific position groups.

One of Jalen Reagor’s former teammates at Texas Christian University, Trevon Moehrig comes in and instantly gives the Philadelphia Eagles a longterm option at the free safety position. Rodney McLeod is technically still under contract through 2021, but he’s also getting up there in age, and he’s coming off his second major knee surgery.

Snagging Moehrig as his replacement here at the top of the second round is definitely a solid plan of attack.

A serious playmaker on the defensive side of the ball, Moehrig has seven career interceptions and 21 passes defensed across three seasons with the Horned Frogs. He’s a rangy safety who was constantly making big-time plays for TCU, which is something the Eagles have really lacked over the years.

Moehrig lacks a little bit when it comes to run defense, but his ball skills are good enough to overshadow any of those minimal concerns.
