As any South Philly fan worth their “wodder ice” already knows, the Philadelphia 76ers will be incredibly well represented at the 2021 All-Star game in Atlanta this year.

Sure, some will rightfully squabble with the fact that Tobias Harris was snubbed from the big game despite putting up All-Star-level numbers that very well may go down as his breakout season (more on that here), but the Sixers have one starter in now-four-time All-Star Joel Embiid, a reserve in now-three-time All-Star Ben Simmons, and even a coach in now-three-time All-Star head coach Doc Rivers.

And the best part? We might not even be done yet.

With the 3 point shooting contest, the skills contest, and the dunk contest still set to announce their rosters, it’s entirely possible even more of the Sixers’ current collection of players could find themselves Atlanta bound for the one-night-only spectacular at State Farm Arena.

But hey, even if players like Seth Curry, Shake Milton, and Dwight Howard are overlooked for less Philly-centric selections, fear not, as the Philadelphia 76ers actually already have a fourth All-Star set to represent the franchise in in-arena host, and all-around cool guy, Christian Crosby.

In a Philadelphia 76ers season without fans, Christian Crosby finally gets a chance to shine.

More from Section 215

Christian Crosby has been with the Philadelphia 76ers for well over a decade, first with the Sixers Dunk Squad before being promoted to his current role as the team’s in-house host.

If you’ve been to a Sixers game in the last half-decade, you’ll surely recall seeing Crosby on the court, mic in hand, hoping to drum up some excitement during commercial breaks and other stoppages of play. He’s an energetic presence with a knack for inspiring enthusiasm during even the most mundane over midweek snoozers, and his presence has sorely been missing as the Sixers take the hallowed court of the Wells Fargo Center without fans in attendance.

But hey, don’t feel bad for Crosby, who is also an alum of the Sixers Innovation Lab and the founder of ‘live life nice‘ – a cause-driven apparel and digital media company dedicated to inspiring, motivating, and empowering people to be Nice and do Nice – as he too is set to make his fourth All-Star appearance right alongside Joel Embiid at this year’s game, marking the fourth season he’s been awarded the honor.

Obviously, this is a massive deal for Crosby and fans of the Sixers desperate for a return to the normalcy of the good ‘ole days of pre-pandemic basketball. It presents the virtual fans in virtual attendance with some live and in-person excitement for breaks in the action during the All-Star game and presents Crosby with another opportunity to make fans in his hometown proud to see a local kid make good on a national stage.

I mean, come on, what’s better than hosting the All-Star game? An NBA Finals game maybe, but after having already hosted the NBA Draft, the Sixers Shore Tour, and his own game show with Champs Sports, the All-Star game is a worthy 1B until his team hopefully makes their triumphant return to said Finals for the first time since 2001, I’m sure it’ll hold Crosby and fans over for that joyous occasion.

Next. Don’t leave Tampa without trading for Norman Powell. dark

So, as you watch with bated breath to see the Philadelphia 76ers’ two All-Star players and All-Star coach take the court on March 7th, keep an eye out for Philly’s fourth All-Star, as Christian Crosby will surely be all over the TNT-broadcasted event ready to make fans the world over hyped as heck for a fantastic showing of the best basketball has to offer. In that regard, I couldn’t think of a better host for such a storied event.
