Will the Philadelphia Eagles land any free agents from the NFC South?

The Philadelphia Eagles head into the 2021 offseason with needs all across the board. To make things worse, they don’t have a lot to work with, as they need to shed money to get under the salary cap before thinking of adding any players.

If and when they shed some contracts, there will be a chance to bring in some talent in free agency. They won’t be spending the big bucks on the high-end free agents, but they could still land some talented players at a lower cost. Here’s some of the free agents they can find a way to bring in from the NFC South.

Carolina Panthers: Curtis Samuel, WR

More from Section 215

The first three years of Curtis Samuel’s career felt a little underwhelming. A former second-round pick from Ohio State, Samuel had the ability to make plays lined up on the outside as a receiver or in the backfield next to the quarterback. In his fourth year, he took a bigger leap.

With the help of offensive coordinator Joe Brady, however, Samuel set career highs in receptions and yards, recording 77 catches for 851 yards in 2020. He also added 200 rushing yards, which was also a career-high.

In an offense based around All-Pro Christian McCaffrey, along with receivers like D. J. Moore and Robby Anderson, it’s clear Samuel wasn’t going to get the most targets or be the focal point of the team’s game plan. However, he was still able to contribute major numbers and be a solid number three receiver for the Carolina Panthers.

As we all know, the wide receiver position has been very lacking the last few seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles. With a receiver like Samuel on the open market and head coach Nick Sirianni’s strength of wide receiver production, it would be very smart for the Eagles to bring in Samuel and add his skillset to the offense.
