After months and months of speculating, it’s starting to feel like the Carson Wentz situation is finally coming to a climax for the Philadelphia Eagles. The former North Dakota State QB is clearly not happy with the current dynamic, and the Eagles would likely prefer to get his salary off the books.

With the new league year set to begin in just over a month, the Eagles have to act relatively fast if they want to avoid paying Wentz $15 million worth of guarantees this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles trading Carson Wentz feels inevitable.

With that said, two teams have emerged over the last couple of hours as realistic landing spots for Wentz.

Indianapolis Colts

Since the moment Jalen Hurts was drafted last spring, Wentz-to-Indy rumors have pretty much been drummed up nonstop. Philip Rivers is unlikely to return for the 2021 season, and Wentz of course has a strong connection with the Colts current head coach, Frank Reich.

The Colts have been somewhat directionless at the QB position since Andrew Luck impromptu retired back in 2019, and they’ve also shown a willingness to part with first round picks in the past.

Indianapolis shot away their first-rounder last offseason for DeForrest Buckner, and are relatively thrilled with how that trade worked out for them.

Considering all the ties that Reich has to Wentz, and the fact that it’d be hard for the Colts to land an impact rookie QB via the draft, making a move for Carson just flat out makes sense for Indianapolis.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo named the Colts as a team that has already had formal discussions with Philadelphia in regards to a trade for Wentz, and Colts GM Chris Ballard didn’t exactly shoot down the possibility when asked about it today.
