Jakub Voracek now 5th all time in assists in Philadelphia Flyers history
In the midst of a rather sloppy early season game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins on Thursday night, there was some history made by a member of the Orange and Black. With his assist on James van Riemsdyk‘s goal late in the second period, Jakub Voracek moved into fifth all time in Philadelphia Flyers history in assists.
He moved ahead of Mark Recchi, who he was tied with at 395 assists wearing the Flyers sweater. Later on in the third period, Voracek added two more assists on goals by Travis Sanheim and van Riemsdyk (again), for numbers 397 and 398.
It may feel strange to hear Jakub Voracek’s named being mentioned for such a milestone, as it is hard to believe this is now the tenth season number 93 has spent with the Philadelphia Flyers.
This season will be rather important for the legacy Voracek inevitably leaves behind as a member of the Orange and Black, as most of his career the team has spun their tires in mediocrity. Voracek has only advanced past the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs twice; one of those times being last summer in the NHL Bubble.

With an assist on Thursday night, Jakub Voracek now sits fifth all time in Philadelphia Flyers history in this category.
While Voracek now sits all alone in fifth place in team history for assists, it may be a while before he is able to move any further up the leaderboard. He is currently 65 assists behind Bill Barber who currently is fourth in franchise history with 463 career assists.
It is incredibly realistic for Jake Voracek to eventually reach that number as he is under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers through the 2023-2024 season. Heck, it is realistic to think he could climb as high as third in team history when all is said and done. Teammate Claude Giroux currently is second in franchise history with 561 career assists.
It is still incredibly early in this abbreviated version of the 2021 NHL Season, but Jakub Voracek is off to a nice start as he has accumulated 1 goal and 4 assists through the team’s first five games. His continued strong play will be crucial for the Flyers.
