That Carson Wentz led comeback against New York.
Carson Wentz did not have a good season this year, that much is safe to say. However, he still had his moments, and his fourth quarter comeback against the New York Giants had me seeing flashbacks of his 2017 self.
After failing to pull of the miraculous comeback against Pittsburgh and Baltimore in back to back weeks, Wentz dragged the Eagles offense down the field late in the fourth quarter, throwing an absolute gem to Boston Scott for the game-winning touchdown. From the TV angle, it looked like an impossible throw. Defenders were crashing in around Wentz and Scott was barely open. Regardless, Wentz stepped up in the pocket and delivered an absolute dart into Scott’s back shoulder.
While Wentz would go on to ultimately get benched later in the season, that final drive against the Giants feels pretty important. It’s clear that there’s still some elite talent hidden away in Wentz – it’s just about getting it to come back out on a consistent basis.
If this was the last season we’ll get to see of Wentz in the midnight green, at least we’ll have that final drive as something to look back on and be happy about.
