Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Lockdown CB in the first-round

The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Outside of WR and CB, the other obvious glaring need on the Philadelphia Eagles roster is that of the linebacker position. Even with former CFL player Alex Singleton developing into a serviceable starter, the team saw some pretty disastrous linebacking play in 2020. Guys like Nate Gerry and Duke Riley probably shouldn’t be on an NFL roster next year, and younger players like TJ Edwards, Davion Taylor, and Shaun Bradley are likely better off on special teams.
In Chazz Surratt, the Philadelphia Eagles get a guy who’s better served to play the middle of the field than their current internal options. A former quarterback turned middle linebacker, Surratt has displayed an above average ability in pass coverage. At 6-3, 230lbs size won’t be an issue for him at the professional level, and he has the athletic traits to keep up with tight ends and running backs in coverage.
The obvious concern with Surratt is that he just hasn’t played the position a whole ton. He does appear to be a natural fit at LB (he loves hitting dudes!), but getting up to speed with all the communication that’s required of linebackers at the NFL level could take some time.
