Following another harrowing loss on Monday Night Football, have the Philadelphia Eagles hit rock bottom?

23-17. That is the score that will forever remain in the history books when people look back at the match up between the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles on November 30th, 2020.

23-17, a one score game. A game that on paper looks like a very competitive contest.

Except that it wasn’t.

More from Section 215

At no point in the contest did it feel like the Philadelphia Eagles had any chance to win. Not when they had a goal line stand on Seattle in the first quarter. Not when they stopped Seattle once again on 4th down on the next Seahawk drive. Not when they scored to make it a 14-6 game, and certainly not when they scored a ridiculous touchdown with 12 seconds left to bring it to a one score game. The only people who were excited about the last second score were those who backed the Birds +6.5 on the point spread.

The defense played pretty well on Monday night, giving the Birds every chance to stay in the game. As I had already mentioned, the goal line stand in the first quarter was pretty awesome, and it was led by guys like Alex Singleton and T.J Edwards who continue to shine in a season that has been quickly lost.

However, for the entirety of the game, the Philadelphia Eagles just looked absolutely lost on offense. I mean seriously, six carries for Miles Sanders? Really? How about Carson Wentz averaging 1.8 yards per attempt in the first half? The lowest yards per attempt by any quarterback in the NFL over the last three seasons according to ESPN Stats & Information data. Or Travis Fulgham’s continued fall from grace, as he once again was invisible posting two receptions for 16 yards. Monday night was the definition of a nightmare for Philadelphia.

We have now reached the cross roads with this organization, where it has become crystal clear that changes are needed, and needed fast. This thing has become so toxic that most of the fan base has resulted to being humored by how bad it has gotten, as opposed to the anger and disgust that is so typical in the Philadelphia fan. Heads are going to roll, whether that be Howie Roseman, Doug Pederson, Carson Wentz, or all three of them.

As recently as a few weeks ago, I would have said you were crazy for wanting to part with the regime that brought the city of brotherly love their first Super Bowl just three short years ago. However, it has gotten so bad so fast that it feels like if something does not change, we could be looking into the depths of a long period of bottom feeder status in the NFL.

Next. Philadelphia Eagles: Someone’s better walk Jake Elliott to his car. dark

Whatever comes of this mess for the Philadelphia Eagles, it is sad to think how far they have fallen from the greatest heights the franchise had ever seen back in February of 2018. Seriously, if I had told you then that less than three years later, we would be talking about the end of the Howie/Doug/Carson era, would you have believed me? Heck, I don’t think I would have believed myself. But that is where we find ourselves Eagles fans, and the crazy thing is, there is no light at the end of the tunnel this time.
