Jason Kelce may be the Philadelphia Eagles’ only offensive payer worthy of a Pro Bowl.

Objectively speaking, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is having a down year.

Though he’s played virtually every snap for the Birds through the first 11 weeks of the 2020 regular season, missing only four versus the Browns last week, Kelce’s surrendered four sacks and three penalties. Factor in an inordinate number of botched shotgun snaps, more through Week 11 than all of 2019 combined, and it’s generally worth wondering if Kelce’s prime is starting to come to a close.

With that being said, Kelce absolutely, totally, 100 percent deserves a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Now granted, there probably won’t be a Pro Bowl in 2021. If there is, I can hardly imagine why any player, regardless of their situation in life, would opt to attend it. With that in mind, being named a Pro Bowler is legitimately important for NFL players. It can help in contract negotiations, activate a pre-existing contract bonus, and even play into whether or not a player lands a bust in Canton when their playing days are done.

At 33-years-old, Kelce has three Pro Bowls and three All-Pro seasons to his name. If he hangs up his cleats tomorrow – well, hopefully at the end of the season – he’d not only go down as one of the best sixth-round picks in NFL history but have a pretty strong case to earn one of those aforementioned busts.

Kelce is also a borderline lock to make the Eagles’ Hall of Fame and maybe even have his number 62 jersey retired after 10 straight seasons as the team’s starting center. His start against the Seattle Seahawks marked his 100th straight with the team, and after donning a Mummers uniform at the Super Bowl Parade down Broad Street, it’s pretty safe to say Travis’ brother will never have to buy a beer in the City of Brotherly Love ever again.

Heck, Kelce literally had a commemorative beer, the ‘No One Likes Us, We Don’t Care IPA‘ by Broken Goblet Brewing, created to honor said fit.

Has Kelce lost a step? Maybe so, but come on man, give him a break. Through the first 12 games of the season, the Eagles have had double-digit offensive line combinations, with 12 different players logging at least a snap in the trenches. Had Kelce been paired up with Isaac Seumalo and Brandon Brooks all season, it’s entirely possible the Eagles’ season would look a whole lot different, but alas, you can’t really control the hand one’s been dealt.

The Pro Bowl is a glorified popularity contest after all; why not award arguably the most popular offensive lineman in football – and again, the only one to my knowledge with a signature beer – with a spot in the Pro Bowl? Why not further pad his resume and try to sneak another Eagle into the Hall of Fame?

Next. At this point, why not give Jalen Hurts more playing time?. dark

When Jason Kelce’s career comes to a close – which will probably happen sooner rather than later – he will undoubtedly go down as a Philadelphia Eagles’ all-timer. He outlasted three coaching staffs – maybe even four – a dozen quarterbacks, and even fully embraced a very daring dad bod/mullet combo that only the most confident among us can pull off. If that isn’t worthy of a spot in the Pro Bowl, even in this down-year-by-his-standards-season-without-a-physical-Pro-Bowl, I honestly don’t know what is.

Update: Yes, I saw Jason Kelce’s late second-quarter botched shotgun snap. My point still stands.
