Even when times are tough, each of our Philly sports teams has something to appreciate this Thanksgiving.

2020 has been awful across the board. Full stop.

And even if we look past all of the big, everyday stuff and view this year solely through the lens of Philadelphia sports, it doesn’t get a whole lot better.

The 76ers were predictably bounced from the NBA playoff bubble in short order. The Flyers got better, but their best players let us all down in the postseason. The Phillies couldn’t even reach .500 during a joke of an MLB season. And the less said about the Eagles, the better.

More from Section 215

Still, with all of the dreck we’ve put up with this year (and unfortunately might have to for the foreseeable future in some cases), there are a few reasons to be optimistic and offer thanks as we enter this holiday season. Some of our local clubs are in a better position than others, and they might have a number of elements that fall into the plus column. But we’ll narrow it down to just one thing above all the others that should put the biggest smile on the faces of each organization and their respective fans at this point in time.

You know it’s a down time in the cycle of a city’s sports teams when we have to pick and choose the bright spots like this, but at least it’ll be a positive step for all of us as we watch our clubs rise back up the ranks in their leagues. Or so we hope.
