Philadelphia Phillies: 3 center fielders to potentially target in free agency
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Phillies could be looking to add a veteran CF via free agency.
Despite pouring a plethora of assets into the position, the Philadelphia Phillies have really failed to find a stable, everyday center fielder. Odubel Herrera lost the gig following his 2019 legal struggles, both Roman Quinn and Adam Haseley have split reps at the position as of late, and former #1 overall pick Mickey Moniak is still an unproven commodity at this point in time.
With all that in mind, it’s not unreasonable to think that the Phillies could look to address the position this upcoming winter via free agency.
Money is tight, but here are three names to keep an eye on when it comes to the CF market:

Jackie Bradley Jr.
2020 Team: Boston Red Sox
2020 Salary: $11 million
An eight year member of the Boston Red Sox, Jackie Bradley Jr.‘s name has been floated around the Philadelphia Phillies organization two years in a row. He was a popular trade rumor at both the 2019 and 2020 deadline. but the Phils failed to ever pull the trigger.
Bradley doesn’t offer a ton in terms of offensive production at this stage in his career, but he’s still one of the best defensive outfielders in all of baseball. Between Haseley and Quinn, the Phillies really struggled to get above average defense in center last year, and Bradley solves that issue pretty adamantly.
At 31 years of age, and revenue down across the league, Bradley Jr. could likely be had for a fairly cheap price as well. I would personally be surprised if he ended up making more than the $11 million that he was set to earn heading into 2020.
