The defensive line low-key gets exposed.

During halftime of last week’s loss, I threw out the idea that the Philadelphia Eagles highly praised defensive line is a tad overrated. As crazy as they may sound, there’s some genuine validity to the statement.

For starters, Alfred Morris and Wayne Gallman combined for 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns last Sunday. I had to do a double take when I saw Morris taking snaps for New York, as I had genuinely forgot he was still in the league.

Regardless, the Eagles D-Line (specifically the interior) got bullied by a very weak Giants rushing attack. New York has struggled with their offensive line all season long, and yet they made Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave look like children last week.

While the sack numbers for the Eagles have been impressive, and a guy like Brandon Graham continues to play out of his mind, Philly’s D-Line has largely been inconsistent throughout the season. Sometimes they dominant the trenches, sometimes they don’t.

The Eagles defensive line is still solid, and without question the strength of their roster, but that doesn’t mean they’re invincible. I expect Cleveland’s fiery RB duo of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb to thrive come 1 PM on Sunday. Maybe giving up 150+ yards to Chubb and Hunt is what finally gets people to start questioning the Eagles D-Line prowess.
