Travis Fulgham has another quiet outing.

After his first couple dominant outings, Philadelphia Eagles fans were quick to crown Travis Fulgham as the team’s saving grace at wide receiver. Stefon Diggs and DeAndre Hopkins comparisons were tossed around left and right, and everyone had pretty much collectively agreed that he was a “WR1″…. after five games.

Against the New York Giants, Fulgham fell back down to earth. He caught one pass for eight yards on five targets, and dropped two crucial balls late in the fourth quarter.

While it’s obviously unfair to write off Fulgham after one bad game, it does provide some much needed context. Fulgham is still a former sixth-round pick who was cut by multiple teams, and it was always unlikely that he would keep up his brief WR1 form.

The Browns’ secondary hasn’t been the best against wide receivers this season, but the presence of Denzel Ward should be more than enough to handle someone like Fulgham. I doubt he gets held to one reception again, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him finish the game with under 50 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

If the Eagles really want to expose the Browns’ secondary, they’ll likely need a breakout performance from their first-round rookie Jalen Reagor.
