TJ Edwards solidifies his role as the team’s starting MLB.

After weeks and weeks of poor linebacker play, the Philadelphia Eagles finally got a solid outing from a LB against the Cowboys in Week 8. Former UDFA TJ Edwards popped onto the scene, logging 13 tackles, one TFL, and one forced fumble. He played a huge role in slowing down Ezekiel Elliott, and his secure tackling was a seriously welcome sight.

Against the Giants, Edwards should hopefully see a similar level of success. New York’s run game has been below average since Saquon Barkley went down, and their offensive line still can’t figure out how to protect Daniel Jones. This all screams of a situation that Edwards can take advantage of.

With Will Parks in the mix too, Edwards likely won’t be asked to drop into coverage too often, the one area of his game he adamantly struggles at.

I’m not sure if Edwards is the Eagles’ “franchise” MLB moving forward, but at just 24 years old, he deserves a shot to hang onto the job here in the second half of the season. A strong performance against New York on Sunday could kick off a solid last eight games for the former Wisconsin linebacker.
