The Philadelphia Phillies likely need a Didi Gregorius replacement in the infield.

Despite the fact that he led the team in RBIs this past season, the Philadelphia Phillies are likely going to let fan-favorite shortstop Didi Gregorius walk this winter. The Phillies are already dealing with the complexity of the JT Realmuto situation, and it’s unlikely that they are going to prioritize retaining Gregorius.

The veteran shortstop has already been linked to the spend-happy Los Angeles Angels, signaling that a divorce between him and the Phillies is imminent.

With all that in mind, the Philadelphia Phillies have a pretty glaring hole in both their lineup and their infield that they now have to fill. Here are ten (yes ten!) routes that the team could go in terms of replacing “Sir Didi”:

Francisco Lindor, SS

Current Team: Cleveland Indians

2020 Salary: $17.5 million

Without question the best option of the bunch, pulling off some sort of blockbuster trade for Francisco Lindor would help everyone forget about Gregorius rather quickly. Not only is Lindor arguably the best shortstop in all of baseball, but he’s also just one of the best overall players in baseball.

Lindor is a 4x All-Star, 2x Silver Slugger, 2x Gold Glove winner, 1x Platinum Gold Glove winner, and has finished in the top ten of MVP voting on three separate occasions.

It was recently reported that Lindor was being made available via the trade market this offseason, and a move for the 26 year old superstar would completely change the Phillies outlook. However, the price will be steep, and it’s honestly hard to imagine a scenario where the Phillies can offer enough to land Lindor in a trade.

Lindor is worth mentioning on a list like this simply because he’s on the trade block, but I definitely wouldn’t get your hopes up regarding a move for him anytime soon.
