The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver has burst onto the scene.

When the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football 25-20 on October 4th, it was a new face that ended up being the unlikely hero; his name, of course, is Travis Fulgham.

The two receptions for 57 yards he produced that night were even more magnified, considering he caught the game-winning touchdown on a 42-yard bomb down the sideline with less than six minutes to play.

Naturally, this had people wondering if the Birds’ had stumbled upon something.

As the days went by, the skepticism to this idea arose, and rightfully so. Yes, he had played the hero just a few nights before, but  Eagles fans have been fooled before; they want to see him do it again before fully buying-in.

Well, that is exactly what happened.

The following Sunday, the Iggles fell to the Steelers 38-29, with their defense being absolutely embarrassed by Big Ben and the Pittsburgh offense.

The silver lining?

Well, not only did Fulgham announce he was the real deal, he absolutely kicked the door to legitimacy off the hinges. Ten catches for 152 yards and a touchdown will do that for you. For the first time in what seems like forever (sorry 2017 Alshon Jeffery), the Eagles finally appear to have found themselves a number one wide receiver.

Still not impressed after those two performances? Don’t worry, all the young wideout did this past Sunday was once again show he is for real; he recorded six catches for 75 yards and another touchdown. Even more impressive, his touchdown was an acrobatic reception in the end zone over two of the better corners in the entire National Football League.

So if you have been following along, that would mean Fulgham has caught a touchdown pass in each of his first three games with the Eagles. Thus, making him the first wide receiver in team history to accomplish this feat since Terrell Owens back in 2004. Yeah, he has been that good.

Of course, there will remain naysayers who will continue to say they need to see more from the young receiver. This comes with the territory, especially when you play in Philadelphia and you don’t exactly have that pedigree to fall back on.

As a sixth-round draft pick out of Old Dominion who has bounced around unable to “stick” with a  few different teams, it is natural for people to be hesitant to buy-in. Well, I am here to tell you this guy passes the eye test, and I would expect the numbers to continue to come. Even on pure opportunity alone. I mean let’s be real, there aren’t exactly many guys on the roster who will be challenging number 13 for targets.

Next. Philadelphia Eagles and Devonta Freeman really messed this one up. dark

In a potentially lost season like this one, where the Eagles have one win in six tries, finding a diamond in the rough like Fulgham can lift the fan base’s spirits and the organization. Yes, the focus should always be on winning, but at the same time in a season like this, it is important to identify players that can be here for the future, as part of the next great Philadelphia Eagles team. Especially considering they have their franchise quarterback in place, having a guy to build a rapport with Carson Wentz for years to come is crucial. Luckily, it appears the Philadelphia Eagles may have found that guy; and his name is Travis Fulgham.
