The Philadelphia Eagles could use some linebacker help (duh).

Well what do ya know, rolling into the NFL season with Nate Gerry and Duke Riley as your starting linebackers turned out to be a pretty horrible idea (talking to you Philadelphia Eagles).

Howie Roseman, Jim Schwartz, and the rest of the Eagles front office/coaching staff decided to really test the limits of their “don’t prioritize LBs” ideology this season, and thus far, it’s failed spectacularly. The team without question has the worst performing linebacker room in all of football, and Nate Gerry has become the most hated man in the city of Philadelphia.

While I don’t personally think the Philadelphia Eagles should be big time “buyers” at this year’s trade deadline (throw away your Myles Jack and Deion Jones fantasies), a move for an actual NFL linebacker is still much needed. With that in mind, here are a few potential guys the team could target:

More from Section 215

Literally anyone on the New York Jets.

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this possibility, because it’s been talked to death by other writers, but calling up Joe Douglas and the Jets makes a ton of sense.

Not only do Roseman and Douglas have a close connection off the field, but the Jets are in full-on fire sale mood at the moment. They’ve been dumping away players left and right, going as far as to full-on cut someone like Le’Veon Bell.

Avery Williamson, Nevelle Hewitt, and Blake Cashman would all immediately come in and be the Philadelphia Eagles best overall LB. Worth a call if the asking price is on the lower side.
