Philadelphia Eagles: 3 takeaways from a gutsy, drop-filled loss to Baltimore
By David Esser
1-4-1 is still 1-4-1.
Everybody loves a good “moral victory” here or there, but this isn’t the time for all that. The Philadelphia Eagles showed some life for the second week in a row, but they are still unfortunately 1-4-1. For a team that reportedly is “looking to buy” at this year’s trade deadline, that’s not exactly where you want to be.
The injury bug bit the Eagles hard once again on Sunday, making their outward projection look even bleaker. Both Sanders and Ertz went down, Jack Driscoll could miss some time, and K’Von Wallace left the game with a shoulder injury.
Specifically on the offensive line, this team just simply can’t afford anymore injuries. Brett Toth had to play RT in the fourth quarter today, and I’m gonna be real with you, he’s really bad.
We saw some more nice things from some of our favorite practice squad heroes in Travis Fulgham and Greg Ward, but it’s still hard to imagine this team actually competing for a playoff spot down the stretch here in 2020.
It was a real gritty performance (no Flyers pun intended), but at the end of the day, the standings don’t necessarily care. The Philadelphia Eagles have won just one game through the first six weeks of the season, and should in all reality do their best to prepare for 2021 at this point in time.
