Winning the turnover battle.

A study was conducted by by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the concept of the “turnover battle” in the NFL, and its findings were quite conclusive. Over the last decade or so, the team that finishes the game with more turnovers forced ends up winning 75% of the time.

Heading into Week 5, the Steelers have been winning their turnover battles while the Eagles have been losing theirs. Pittsburgh owns a turnover differential of +2, while Philadelphia possesses a -5 turnover differential (third worst in the NFL).

The one game that the Philadelphia Eagles were finally able to force some turnovers (while simultaneously doing a better job taking care of the football), they ending up winning. That’s no coincidence.

Heading into this Pennsylvania state showdown, the team that takes care of the ball will most likely walk away with the victory. Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t particularly been known for his ball security in the past, but then again neither has Wentz.

The Steelers own a handful of elite playmakers in the secondary in Joe Haden and Minkah Fitzpatrick, while the Eagles will turn to their own respective lockdown corner in Darius Slay to hopefully snag his first interception while rocking the midnight green.
