5 players the Philadelphia Flyers should target in free agency
Here are a few players who would look really good on the Philadelphia Flyers.
Now that the Stanley Cup Finals have wrapped up and the NHL Draft has come and gone, it is time to shift our attention to free agency. Today, we are here to discuss five players the Philadelphia Flyers could potentially look to add from the free agent market.
While they do not have a TON of cap space to play with, currently about $8.6 million available (some of this money will need to go to RFA’s Nolan Patrick and Philippe Myers), there are still guys that could be had off the bargain bin who could contribute in Philadelphia next season. Let’s get to it.
5. D Zach Bogosian

2019-2020 Team: Buffalo Sabres/Tampa Bay Lightning
2019-2020 Cap Hit: $1.3 Million
Fresh off winning his first career Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Zach Bogosian enters free agency with the possibility of looking for a new home. Far from the top pairing defenseman he was projected to be when he was the third overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Bogosian is still a solid third pairing guy.
After playing 19 games in Buffalo, the 30-year-old veteran was placed on unconditional waivers and eventually released. He did draw some interest before eventually signing with Tampa Bay to finish out the year, and man was that the right decision. He did suit up in eight regular-season games with the Bolts’ before the stoppage and played in 20 of 22 playoff games for Tampa. This was his first taste of playoff hockey, and he was solid as he produced four assists and a +1 in about 17 minutes per game.
Bogosian would be a nice addition to the third pairing, especially with the hole created from Matt Niskanen’s decision to retire, which seemingly came out of nowhere. Assuming he could be had on a cheap one-to-two-year-deal worth between $1-2 million per year, the Philadelphia Flyers seem like a nice spot for Zach Bogosian to end up.
