The Philadelphia Eagles got their first win of the season!

Despite the 49ers being universally favored in this one, the Philadelphia Eagles did their best “2017 underdogs” impression and clawed out a victory on Sunday Night Football. It wasn’t pretty (in fact it was pretty ugly), but a win’s a win and our beloved birds are back in first place.

The Eagles entered the ballgame down a whole CVS receipt’s worth of starters, and the 49ers were beat up in their own regards. Pretty much everyone knew it would end up being a battle of who could be less bad, and unfortunately for the Nick Mullens/CJ Beatherd led Niners, it was the Eagles who were the least terrible of the two.

Carson Wentz had himself a bit of a bounce-back game of sorts, rushing for a TD and throwing for one late in the game. He did throw the one INT, but it came on a fluky tipped pass at the line of scrimmage.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense in particular showed up for the primetime matchup, forcing three turnovers and sacking a Niners QB on five separate occasions. The Philly defense had yet to force an actual turnover this season, so it was a welcome sight to see the unit finally get active around the football.

It was a messy, messy win which ended in an almost-caught Hail Mary attempt, but nevertheless, the boys got the job done and they get to ride back to Philly knowing that they are in sole possession of the NFC East.

With all that said, here are my three biggest takeaways from the win:
