Some last second predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles game against Cincy.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in just a few hours, in a game that many have predicted to be “bounce back” type of win for the birds. The Eagles have gotten off to a super slow start here in 2020 (0-2), and they are in desperate search of an easy win heading into Week 3.

While the Bengals will likely put up a bigger fight than some have predicted, this is a game that the Eagles should undoubtedly win on paper. With that said, here are some last second predictions for the winless battle taking place down at the Linc.

Miles Sanders sets a new career-high for rushing yards.

More from Section 215

The Bengals defense is currently allowing an average of 185 rushing yards per game, and the Eagles just so happen to have a shiny second-year RB ready to take the league by storm.

Miles Sanders spent a lot of time this past offseason talking about establishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier backs, and this matchup projects to be a favorable one for him. Not only have the Eagles struggled in their passing attack (and will likely be looking to lean on their run game), but the Bengals are down their star DT in Geno Atkins.

The Philadelphia Eagles need to establish an offense not based solely around Carson Wentz for at least one week, and this is a defense that Sanders should tear apart. Sanders’ previous record for rushing yards in a game is 122, and the former Penn State back could genuinely top that here in Week 3.

Carson Wentz starts to settle down.

I don’t think Wentz is going to show up and drop 400+ yards on the Bengals come game time, but he really should find his rhythm in this one. Cincinnati’s secondary isn’t very good, and the Eagles offensive line looked way better in Week 2 than it did in Week 1.

Wentz will be down Jalen Reagor this week, which hurts, but the collective grouping of DeSean Jackson, John Hightower, Greg Ward, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside (lol just kidding) should be more than enough to pick apart the Bengals cornerbacks.

250 yards, 1 TD, and no interceptions would be a really solid afternoon for the veteran QB. Less erratic plays and simpler routes should hopefully be on display as well.

Final score ends up being too close for comfort.

Like previously mentioned, a lot of individuals have predicted this to be a “get right” type of win for the Eagles. As great as that all sounds, I don’t believe that will necessarily be the case. Joe Burrow has looked pretty good through his first two NFL games, and the Philly defense got absolutely torn to shreds by the Rams last week.

The Philadelphia Eagles defensive line has also struggled to get to quarterbacks thus far, which should aid a young shot-caller like Burrow in making throws from the pocket. The trio of AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins appears to outmatch the Eagles struggling CBs (outside of Darius Slay of course), which should in theory result in some easy completions for Burrow.

Combining an exciting Bengals offense with a slumping Eagles team should equate to a game closer than expected, although I do think Philadelphia still grinds it out (my completely random prediction is 23-17).

Next. Philadelphia Phillies: An 8th seed playoff spot should not save Matt Klentak’s job. dark

The Eagles and Bengals kick off action at 1:00 PM this afternoon, and all eyes will be on the game as Philly looks to avoid a disastrous 0-3 start.
