Corey Clement doesn’t look like a serviceable RB3.

Similar to that of Avonte Maddox, there was a ton of offseason hype surrounding Corey Clement‘s return to the Philadelphia Eagles running back rotation. A fan favorite from 2017 due to his Super Bowl 52 heroics, the former undrafted free agent had struggled with injuries in both 2018 and 2019.

Now reportedly fully healthy, the expectation was that he would slot in as a valuable rotational back. However, just two games into the new season, and Clement’s spot on the 53-man roster is looking anything but secure.

Clement saw 8 touches in Week 1 and recorded just 21 total scrimmage yards. He averaged a measly 3.2 yards per carry and struggled supremely in pass protection. With Miles Sanders back in the rotation last weekend, Clement saw his offensive snaps drop all the way down to 3, receiving zero touches.

The Eagles poked around the free agent market via some Devonta Freeman interest (before he was snatched up by the New York Giants), and they have rookie Jason Huntley looking to climb the ranks as well. With every passing day it seems more and more unlikely that Clement will finish the season on the 53-man roster, and some reported injury concerns during practice this week aren’t helping his case either.
