With puck drop of Game 1 just a few hours away, here are 3 under the radar players to keep an eye on between the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens.

Well we are finally here, the Philadelphia Flyers play in a playoff game later on tonight. After months of waiting and anticipation, which included a global pandemic, we have finally made it and quite honestly I couldn’t be more excited if I wanted to be.

This is easily the best Philadelphia Flyers team in a long time, and they have a roster littered with “under the radar” kind of players. With the puck set to drop in a few hours, here are three of those players to keep an eye on in this series.

Scott Laughton

Drafted all the way back in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (20th overall), it sure seems like Scott Laughton has been with the Philadelphia Flyers for a long time. Heck, when Laughton was drafted, the team was considered to be a Stanley Cup contender with many bright years ahead of them.

However as we all know, that never really materialized and the Orange and Black found themselves floundering in the bottom half of the league.

Well, here we are eight years later and the Flyers finally appear to have reached the light at the end of the tunnel, and Laughton has played a key role.

Scotty has played parts of seven seasons as a Flyer, including multiple years where he found himself as a regular in the lineup. Considering it has been so long since he was drafted, a lot of people felt Laughts’ was just destined to be a bottom six forward who would simply play his role. However, the Flyers forward finally seems to have put it all together, as evidenced by his breakout this season where he posted a career high 13 goals in only 49 games, seeing regular minutes on the third or fourth line while also moving into the top six at times.

The biggest difference in Laughton’s game is the fact that the Flyers have finally been able to develop some good players to play alongside him in the lower half of the lineup, and the results speak volumes.

Laughton has carried his strong play into the postseason, having contributed three goals and five points in the Flyers three round-robin games. Rest assured, he will have his finger prints all over this playoff run.
