Philadelphia Eagles sign Jason Peters to play RG
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Jason Peters to play Right Guard.
A few days ago NFL analyst Brian Baldinger announced that “big news” was about to be released regarding the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans were quick to start stirring up rumors about Jadeveon Clowney and Jamal Adams, however the team opted to go a different route.
With 3x Pro Bowler Brandon Brooks out for the season due to a torn Achilles, Howie Roseman and the Eagles agreed to bring back longtime franchise LT Jason Peters to replace him.
Peters has been the team’s left tackle for the last eleven years, and he’s been one of the best to ever do it. A first ballot Hall of Fame whenever he does decide to hang it up, Peters is one of the most beloved Eagles in franchise history. With that said, the Eagles did draft his replacement in Andre Dillard last year, seeing as Peters turns 39 in January.

The Eagles had initially planned to let Peters walk this offseason, possibly considering a reunion if Dillard looked shaky at LT early on in training camp. However, with the Brooks injury, it looks like the team is banking on Peters being able to make a position change 16 years into his career.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ official Twitter page announced the signing as “G Jason Peters”, and pretty much every report since then has announced the move is to replace Brooks on that right side.
According to Zach Berman of the Athletic and Vincent Taylor of Elite Loyalty Sports, the deal is a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with $3 million guaranteed. Not a bad price at all for a guy who is currently projecting to be the team’s day one starter at RG.
It’s not a blockbuster move by any stretch of the imagination but it’s still an upgrade. While there might be some learning for Peters to do to make that switch to the right side, he’s got Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson next to him to make it work out. At the very least, the Eagles have a backup LT to turn to if Dillard struggles in 2020.
