Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz’ Madden 21 rating will annoy you
By David Esser
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is once again being disrespected.
Ever since tearing his ACL back in 2017, Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz has been routinely slighted by the national media. He missed out on the 2017 MVP simply for getting hurt, fans have regularly called for Nick Foles to come back and replace him, and TV hosts love to claim that rival Dak Prescott is the superior passer.
With EA’s Madden 21 set to release later this year, you can add Wentz’ video game rating to the long list of disrespect the young QB has received in his career thus far.
In a tweet sent out by @MySportsUpdate, the top ten QB ratings for the game were released. Usual candidates Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson topped the list, however the controversy began when getting further down the board. Wentz ranked ninth with an overal rating of 84. This puts him behind guys like Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, and Deshaun Watson, while also being tied with Prescott.

There’s a genuine argument to be had about Watson being the superior quarterback at the moment, but the rest of the above mentioned names really can’t compare to Wentz when looking at 2019.
Matt Ryan went 7-8 as a starter last year. He finished with 14 interceptions, the most he’s thrown since 2015 and double the amount Wentz threw. Ryan also threw fewer touchdowns than Wentz, despite having some of the best receivers in the league to throw to (Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley).
While the Packers did end up making the NFC Championship in 2019, the head to head numbers between Rodgers and Wentz really aren’t comparable. Wentz had more yards, more touchdowns, a higher completion percentage, and beat Rodgers head to head in Green Bay.
Don’t even get me started about Wentz and Prescott having the same rating.
Wentz took a group of practice squad guys and put them on his back last year, winning four straight games down the stretch. He broke the Eagles’ all-time record for passing yards in a season, and captured the NFC East divisional title against all odds. Despite all this, it looks like we’re in for another year of Wentz having to “prove himself” to the national media.
