Dallas Goedert has a Philadelphia Eagles posse.

When news broke Saturday evening that Philadelphia Eagles‘ tight end Dallas Goedert was sucker punched and sent to the hospital after an altercation with a patron while out with family at a South Dakota bar, it left a bad taste in many fans’ collective mouths.

‘What happened? Is Goedert going to be okay? Who knew there were Cowboys fans in South Dakota?’

But one person who is seriously not taking Goedert’s assault in stride is his 2018 draft classmate Avonte Maddox.

Taking to Twitter to vent his frustration, Maddox clapped back at Goedert’s at the time anonymous assailant, declaring, “Yeah, lucky I wasn’t there. Would have been some problems dead*ss”.

I guess they call Philly ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ for a reason.

Now as you may or may not know, Goedert and Maddox were both members of the Eagles’ 2018 draft class and even roomed together during their rookie season. The duo have been featured in Eagles’ video content together, have a slew of pictures together on social media, and even went head-to-head in a game of Madden that’s a tad long at 33 minutes but definitely worth a watch if you have the time.

Despite playing different positions, coming from different schools – not to mention FCS vs FBS – and even playing on opposite sides of the ball, Maddox and Goedert have developed a fast friendship to the point where the duo would legitimately fight for the other’s honor, and apparently he isn’t alone.

In the comments section of said tweet, Maddox’s defensive backfieldsmate Rasul Douglas took things a step further, stating “Swear to Everything I’d be in jail right now” to which Maddox replied, “Swear Bro”.

Even Boston Scott got in on the fun, declaring that he’d be ‘on sight’ – which is both a phrase you can learn about here and a really good Kanye West song featuring synthetic work from Daft Punk.

I’m assuming he meant the former.

So, as you may be wondering, how exactly did this fight go down? Who instigated it? And will Goedert miss any time as a result?

Well, as these things so often go, we don’t really know. The story is still developing and outside of a quote declaring that Goedert will be ‘fine’ we’ll collectively have to wait to see how things develop further.

Next. Jason Kelce was the Philadelphia Eagles’ most valuable starter in 2019. dark

What we do know, however, is that Dallas Goedert’s fellow Philadelphia Eagles clearly have his back no matter what and value him both as a teammate and as a friend. To me, that’s a pretty encouraging takeaway from an otherwise crappy situation.
