The Philadelphia Eagles have their best chance yet to bring in some talent that will help this season in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The NFL draft helps NFL teams stay young and build for the future. The Philadelphia Eagles have another shot to add some young, much-needed talent into the franchise.

There have been positions that they have hit on and others that they haven’t been able to fix in recent years.

The defensive and offensive lineman positions are spots that this team can draft like the back of their hand. The Eagles always seem to be able to draft tight ends also.

More from Philadelphia Eagles

Zach Ertz has become a sure-handed player and is one of the best players in the league. Dallas Goedert is a budding star and will be ready when it is his turn to step up. The Eagles will surely find a back up for him just like they’ve done all these years.

Philadelphia is set up for the future now that they have Carson Wentz. Wentz has proven he is an MVP-caliber player when healthy.

The emergence of Miles Sanders – who was a rookie last season – in the second half of the year helped the Eagles make it to the playoffs. They have to be excited about what they have in him for the future.

The point is that when you draft well, then that leads to sustained success. In the past ten years, the Eagles have had seven winning seasons. Also, they won a Super Bowl three years ago and won the division two out of three years.

That’s due to their success in finding youthful talent in the draft. Players they have drafted like Wentz (who didn’t play in the Super Bowl but was instrumental during that season), Ertz, Jalen Mills, Nelson Agholor, Fletcher Cox, and Corey Clement who was an undrafted free agent that season all helped the team win their first Super Bowl ever that season.

The Eagles need to have a good draft this year so they can have continued success. They have missed in recent years at the wide receiver and cornerback positions. When they won the Super Bowl, they got good production out of those two spots.

Moving up to get a receiver like CeeDee Lamb isn’t out of the question. Lamb has receiver one talent, and the Eagles need that bad.

Terrell Owens and Alshon Jeffery are good examples of what can happen if the Eagles have a good number one receiver. Owens had 77 catches for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns in his first year as an Eagle. Jeffery had 57 catches for 789 yards and nine touchdowns his first year as an Eagle.

Both those first seasons led to Super Bowl trips.

When the cornerback position has played well, the Eagles have had success also. In the Super Bowl year, the Eagles had 19 interceptions. That was good for fifth in the league.

Rasul Douglas had two interceptions, Ronald Darby had three, Corey Graham had two, Patrick Robinson had four, Rodney McLeod had three, Mills had three, and Malcolm Jenkins had two interceptions for the Eagles that season.

The Eagles got Darius Slay to play one side of the field, but if they can get a good young player on the other side, things could get scary. Forcing turnovers has to a focus next season.

The NFL is a forever changing league. You have to adapt season after season. It has been proven that when the Eagles are able to add new wrinkles, they can win. Just like in free agency, the draft is a good chance to add those new wrinkles.

Next. Patrick Queen is a great player at the wrong position. dark

This draft will mean a lot to the Eagles because it’s a chance to get new talent on the team for them to adapt.
