Despite what’s going on in the world, the NFL is moving forward with the start their league year as normally scheduled. Here’s how the Philadelphia Eagles should attack the top of the draft.

COVID-19 has changed the plans of everybody in the world, including every team in the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the many sports franchises that had to account for the spread of the virus.

Free agency is expected to go on as usual and will start on Wednesday.  The Eagles have several positions of need, and they could use veteran help.

It has yet to be seen what will happen in the Alshon Jeffery situation. Jason Peters is gone, so will the Eagles put Andre Dillard immediately in the starting left tackle spot, or will they get veteran help?

More from Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are always loading up on offensive and defensive lineman. That is just how they’ve been for the longest time. What will happen at cornerback? That has been an Achilles heel for this team for years.

This is an old team with a lot of veteran leadership. That is reminiscent of the old Philadelphia teams. Names like Brian Dawkins, Jeremiah Trotter, and Donovan McNabb were well-known names and respected across the NFL.

This team though, needs to have a successful draft. Players like Sidney Jones, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and Derek Barnett are all players that haven’t lived up to the hype.

The Eagles in the first round will always look at lineman. They could either look at adding a tackle to create competition for Dillard and add depth, or they could add another body on the defensive line.

There were some questions about the defensive end spot last year and their ability to create a pass rush.

The second round is where the Eagles have to look at adding a speedy wide receiver or a speedy cornerback.

DeSean Jackson is a fast receiver that the Eagles picked up in the second round. They hope to have luck again in that round.

The Eagles will also have to look for a fast cornerback that will help them in coverage. The deep ball and big plays through the air have been the Eagles defense’s Kryptonite.

The Eagles have free agency and the draft to fill in the holes that they have. This team has some bright spots and is trying to improve just like any team in the offseason. We will see if they can fix their problems.
