Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz is the team’s real MVP
After winning against the New York Giants, Carson Wentz has led the Philadelphia Eagles to four straight victories and has solidified himself as the team’s leader.
The Philadelphia Eagles almost had their season destroyed by injuries. Two more crucial players went down during the game against the New York Giants in Brandon Brooks and Miles Sanders. One player remained constant for the team. He is Carson Wentz.
The Eagles have been a franchise for 86 years, and they have never had a 4,000-yard passer. That changed when Wentz was able to do it in their final game of the season.
What is amazing about this feat is the fact that the receiving core has not been the best. The Eagles are the first team to have a 4,000-yard passer and not have a wide receiver catch for over 500 yards.

Philly has embraced the term next man up ever since their magical 2017 season when they went to the Super Bowl. In that season, Wentz went down himself, and in came Nick Foles. Foles was able to take the team to the big game and win it.
This team utilizes everybody on their roster, so when a player goes down, the next guy can just step in and take their place.
When Jordan Howard went down, Miles Sanders stepped in as a rookie and broke records. When Sanders went down in the Giants game, Boston Scott was able to step in and score three rushing touchdowns. That was the most rushing touchdowns since LeSean McCoy had three in 2011.
When the Eagles lost Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and Nelson Agholor it looked like Wentz wouldn’t have much success with the receivers that were left because of the fact the receiving game was already lackluster.
He was able to elevate his play over the competition for four games straight no matter the circumstances and lead the Eagles to an NFC East title, which they were always predicted to win.
Tom Brady has been the one constant for the New England Patriots in this century, and that has resulted in six Lombardi trophies for that team.
Wentz could be that type of player for the Eagles. He is the franchise quarterback that will lead them to victory game after game and give them the best chance at a title season after season. After what the North Dakota State product has done this year, he is destined for greatness.
The Eagles have been willed to wins by him. In the fourth quarter, he has passed for 1,161 yards, which is the most in any quarter by Wentz.
The Eagles almost did not make it to the Dallas Cowboys game. They needed comeback efforts from their first-round pick in 2016 in the first Giants game and the Washington Redskins game. The Cowboys game was a game that he called the most crucial game of his career, and he was able to beat that challenge.
Philadelphia lost to the Cowboys for four straight games, but in the final time that they were to face them this season, they would not be denied. Wentz was a big factor in that win to end the Cowboys win streak. After that big game, he was able to finish the season beating the Giants to win the NFC East. It is safe to call Carson Wentz clutch.
In a young career, Wentz has become the single-season passing yardage leader in franchise history, passing Donovan McNabb. With so much already done for him in his career, the sky is the limit for him in the future.
