3. Joe Girardi

It’s been two years since the New York Yankees decided to move on from Joe Girardi after his contract expired, but just because the former manager hasn’t worked since 2017 doesn’t mean this would be a bad hire for the Phillies.

More from Section 215

In fact, Girardi has seen his name linked to numerous teams across the league that happen to be searching for a new manager, making it seem like he will land a new gig in no time, whether it happens to be in Philadelphia or with a different team such as the Chicago Cubs.

Just like Maddon, Girardi having a World Series title to his resumes makes this an intriguing option for the Phillies, but also the interest from other playoff-caliber teams could make this a scenario a long shot for Philadelphia.

Back in 2009 when Girardi led the Yankees to a World Series win over the Phillies, there were plenty of baseball fans that attempted to make the claim he didn’t deserve as much credit for inheriting such a talented team.

No matter how some of those critics felt at the time, nothing can take away from Girardi the success he had in 10 years as manager, and if Philadelphia were to be interested, this would seem like a no brainer.
