4. Defensive adjustments were successful

Heading into Sunday’s contest, facing the Redskins seemed like a dream matchup on defense for the Eagles based off the kind of season Case Keenum put together in 2017 as a member of the Denver Broncos.

As Philadelphia quickly learned, Keenum looked like a completely different quarterback from a year ago when looking at how quickly the veteran came out firing to help Washington earn a 20-7 lead entering halftime.

Numerous factors certainly came into play when it comes to seeing how the Eagles looked in the second half, but the improved play by the defense certainly deserves a ton of credit since they prevented the Redskins from scoring until the final seconds of the game.

Looking at this Philadelphia defense on paper, there’s every reason to believe this unit could turn out to be one of the top units in the league depending on certain players staying healthy, and will certainly determine if they can finish near the top of the NFC once again.

And while the Eagles’ defense took a ton of heat for their disappointing play from the first two quarters, at least they found a way to turn things around before it was too late in the second half to help earn the victory.
