Aaron Nola

Nola is the only Phillies starting pitcher that should make it. There is another starter that could be in a conversation, but we will get to that later. After starting the 2019 season slow, Nola has heated up as of late, including seven strong innings this past Wednesday.

Currently, Nola is 6-0 with a 4.18 ERA. If that ERA can continue to trend below 4.00, then it should strengthen Nola’s case to make the team. Making the team last season and having the name recognition should also help his case in making his second-straight Midsummer Classic.

Jean Segura

Jean Segura made the AL All-Star team last year, so he has been there before. Currently sitting above .300, as he has for most of the season, there is no reason why Segura should not make the All-Star team.

It will be tough for Segura to crack the starting lineup with a lot of other very talented shortstops in the National League, but when considering his overall body of work, Segura should at least be on the team as a reserve.

Cesar Hernandez

Cesar Hernandez has made his mark as one of the best offensive second basemen in the National League. He ranks second in OPS and leads all second basemen in batting average by over 30 points. With that being said, Hernandez should make his first All-Star team this July.

It may be tough for him to be a starter considering he is not the most popular second basemen out there, but his production speaks for itself. Even if he is not a starter, it would be a disservice for Hernandez not to be selected to the team.
