Bryce Harper

It doesn’t matter how slow of a start Harper got off to, there was no chance he would be left off the All-Star team. Remember, Harper started on last season’s National League team even though he was hitting under .210 at the time of the game.

Even if Harper hovered around .230, he would still have the support from Philadelphia and around the country to make the team and most likely start. Thanks to a recent hot streak, Harper now sees his average over .250, and if he continues to stay hot, that should only help his case.

Harper has made the All-Star team every year of his career, other than 2014, and odds are he will be making his seventh appearance on July 9th.

JT Realmuto

JT Realmuto is looked at by many as the best catcher in the National League, if not the best catcher in baseball. Outside of Realmuto, there are only one-or-two other catchers who should even be considered for the All-Star team.

Contrary to Harper, there is less of a guarantee that Realmuto will be an All-Star starter. He will have to compete with Willson Contreras and Yasmani Grandal. Considering the National League keeps three catchers, that means Realmuto will be an All-Star.

Realmuto does have the name recognition amongst the fans that should help his case as well, and it also helps to be in a much bigger baseball market this season in Philadelphia. After making his first All-Star team in 2018, Realmuto should be right back there this summer.
