Round 6, Pick 197: Running Back Tony Pollard, Memphis

Despite all of the excitement surrounding Jordan Howard heading into 2019 after the Eagles acquire the former Chicago Bears running back in a trade this offseason, this is another position in which there’s some uncertainty after 2019.

More from Section 215

Since Howard is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and will be looking for quite a hefty payday next offseason, there’s no guarantee the youngster will be back in the picture after next season if the asking price ends up being too high.

Take this into consideration with all of the questions surrounding some other young running backs like Corey Clement and Josh Adams, it’s easy to understand why Philadelphia could be looking to add another backfield player in the draft.

If Philadelphia decides to wait until the later rounds, Tony Pollard out of Memphis could be the perfect complimentary running back in this kind of offense since he wouldn’t need the pressure of being the top running back on the roster.

Even more exciting, Pollard has proven to be the kind of running back who can be reliable in the passing game as well, which could work wonders for the Eagles since the team can use all of the extra help possible in the backfield moving forward.
