Depending on how things go over the first six rounds, it will be interesting to see what the final selection ends up being for Philadelphia in the seventh round of this year’s draft, but seeing them focus on defense wouldn’t really come as a surprise at all.
Despite some of the criticism Schwartz received at times, at the end of the day, he is a solid defensive coordinator, and deserves some benefit of the doubt for all the adjustments he was forced to make for key injuries.
If Schwartz and the Eagles were looking to find talent in the final round of the draft, there’s a chance that TCU’s L.J. Collier will still be available unless his stock rises between now and April, which is always a possibility.
It’s no secret that some of the key members on defense for the Eagles aren’t getting any younger, and Collier coming off a senior season in which he recorded six sacks to go along with 11.5 tackles for a loss shows what kind of potential there is with the defensive end.
