Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson

After tearing his ACL in his rookie year, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson turned in a very impressive season. He lead the Texans to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth, after going 4-12 in 2017.

There is little doubt that Houston has found their quarterback of the future. The Clemson product threw for over 4,000 yards this season while passing for 26 touchdowns to nine interceptions in 2018. Watson also showed his ability to be a threat to run from the pocket.

It was an early season struggle for Watson and the Texans after starting 0-3, but they quickly turned it around and went 11-2 the rest of the way. It appears that Watson and the Texans should be a threat to make the postseason on a yearly basis.

Watson even had his name circulating in MVP discussions throughout the season. He won’t win the award, but he turned in MVP caliber play for much of the 2018 season. The triumph of Watson also likely gave head coach Bill O’Brien a lot more job security after being on the hot seat.

In a league where so many teams face questions surrounding the quarterback position, it must be nice for Houston to know they are very secure at that position moving forward. If healthy, Watson has the chance to be a great quarterback for a long time.
