As great as it would be to land both Harper and Manny Machado, the Phillies seem like they may have to only settle for Machado if they were to pick between the two, which is completely fine.

In fact, when looking at some of the rumors heating up in recent weeks, some believe Philadelphia has the best chance to land Machado when compared to some of the other teams trying to sign him as well.
If this ends up being the case, the Phillies would immediately become a serious contender in the National League, and would certainly give the Atlanta Braves a run for their money in the NL East as well.
Just like the situation with Harper from a money perspective, Machado is right up there with the Nationals outfielder when it comes to the likelihood of receiving some sort of record-setting deal this offseason, whether it’s from the Phillies or another team.
When seeing how he’s hit at least 33 home runs in each of the last four seasons along with the power he would bring to the hitting department in general, there’s no question Philadelphia would benefit from a bat like Machado’s.
Some adjustments would have to be made now that Segura is part of the picture now, but this is something the Phillies would have no trouble with since it would be well worth it from a contending standpoint.
