Philadelphia Eagles: Three keys to a Week 13 win over Washington Redskins
By Jake Starr
Continue to use Josh Adams
Prior to last Sunday’s game, Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson announced that Josh Adams would see the bulk of the carries going forward. Pederson stuck to his words and gave Adams 22 carries in the Eagles’ win over the Giants.
In that game, Adams totaled 84 yards and one touchdown. He also had a long touchdown run called back due to a holding call. Pederson finally committed to the run, and it paid off in a huge way last Sunday.
Going forward, the Eagles are going to need to continue to feed Adams the ball. Giving Adams around 20 carries per game will balance out the Eagles offense and make life easier on Carson Wentz.
The Eagles inability to get consistent production from their running backs has been a big reason why their offense has struggled. There is no guarantee that Adams will be the guy, but after what we saw last week, there is no reason for the Eagles to not give Adams another 20 carries on Monday night.
On Monday night, against a very good Washington defense, the Eagles are going to have to get the ground game going early. It should be Adams seeing the bulk of the carries again and hopefully putting the Eagles’ offense on his back once again.
