Return to the next man up mentality

I hate to do it, and I think everybody is getting tired of the comparisons between last year’s Eagles team and this year’s. But another difference is their next man up mentality. Granted their depth has been tested much more this year, they have just not been able to bounce back after injuries like they were a year ago.

Just take a look at the contributors who the Eagles have lost this year or have seen miss time to injuries. Darby, Rodney McLeod, Jay Ajayi, Mack Hollins, Tim Jernigan are just to name a few, and the list goes on and on.

Last year, the Eagles lost a few very good players. This year they have lost a lot of key contributors, and it has started to add up. Their depth has been tested, and so far the returns have not been great. That needs to change quickly or the season will continue to unravel.

The Eagles will look to guys like Rasul Douglas and Josh Adams to step up down the stretch and become key contributors. Them playing well will be big for the Eagles going forward. Douglas needs to step up on Sunday to slow down the Saints aerial attack and Adams does as well to give the Eagles a respectable threat on the ground.

If the Eagles are going to get back to their winning ways, they need to come out with that swagger that they won’t be stopped no matter who they have out there on the field. That attitude needs to come out on Sunday if the Eagles have any chance at winning this game.
