NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles fall flat in Week 11
15. Atlanta Falcons
One week, the Atlanta Falcons look like world beaters who have finally put it all together after defeating the Washington Redskins by a score of 38-14.
And the next week? They lose by 12 to the Cleveland Browns.
Yes, the very same Cleveland Browns that just fired their head coach, and fired their offensive coordinator earlier that week.
That team put up 28 on a Falcons defense that’s been far from stout while holding Julio Jones, Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley, and company to 16 points and two offensive touchdowns.
Just when you think the team is on the up and up, they pull the rug out from under themselves and fall back into the pack of middling NFC teams that probably won’t make it out of the regular season, but won’t earn a good enough draft selection to make their consistent losing worth wild.
With the Panthers sitting two games above .500 and the Saints on track to finish out the season with the best record in all of football, the Falcons’ only real opportunity to make the postseason would have to come through a Wildcard berth, a task that’s easier said than done when you consider just how inconsistent the Falcons have been under second-year offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
