NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles fall flat in Week 11
24. Detroit Lions
There once was a time when the Detroit Lions were sitting pretty at 3-3 within striking distance of first place in the incredibly tight NFC North.
Three straight losses and a Golden Tate trade later and it’s pretty clear the Lions postseason aspirations are gone.
And the worst part? The Lion still have three divisional games yet to play down the stretch.
While Matt Patricia has improved over his opening night blowout loss to the New York Jets, it’s clear the Lions just don’t have enough talent to compete with the big dogs in the NFC like the Rams, the Saints, or the Bears any time soon.
From a shaky offensive line, to a lackluster defense, the Lions are a team with some serious holes that could may be a good draft or two away from having the personnel needed to execute their new coach’s identity on both sides of the ball.
The only problem? Their big money quarterback Matthew Stafford is already 30, and he’s not exactly getting better with age.
After finally moving on from Jim Caldwell after a lackluster tenure, only time will tell if Patricia is the man to finally turn this team into contenders, a task that’s easier said than done.
